Houlihan’s – Castleton

November 15, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

Castleton has a Houlihan’s? It will on Monday, but the fiance and I got a sneek peek of it Friday. We had the day off and were in the Castleton Square Mall on a mission for dress shirts when we were approached by a Houlihan’s employee giving us a card for a free meal that day. The catch – the restaurant was training its employees, so we may have to wait 90 minutes for our free meal.

Of course we went for the free meal. While there, I had to check out the bathroom. Besides, we were supposed to rate it for management based on a questionaire they left with us. Anyhoos, I go to the bathroom and it’s really modern. The same tile all over the floor and the wall. It’s that kind of little tile that makes me think of 60s bathrooms or gym showers. The 3 stalls were stainless steel, and there were two papertowel dispensers and trashcans. That’s nice. There’s nothing worse than waiting for someone to finish drying their hands and having your wet hands drip on the ground.

But to me, the piece de resistance of the bathroom was the sink. UBER modern. It didn’t even look like a sink. It was this long stainless steel slab with a drop off in the front where the water would run. You washed your hands over the slab and the water eventually drained to the front drop off. It was neat, but seemed more splashy than a typical sink.

Because the place was new, it got a sit. Think about it. How many other people had done their business in there yet? If I ever make my way back there, I’ll have to re-evaulate it once the bathroom’s seen a few more tooshies.

Lucas Oil Stadium – club restroom

November 9, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

I was able to finally make it to Lucas Oil Stadium and see the place. I was there for a fundraising event, so I was only able to access the club suite we were in. But let me tell you, that bathroom was nice!!!

The first thing I noticed was how many stalls there were. I think there were 14 stalls. What I really liked was that the stalls weren’t stainless steel or metal. They were the same material as fiberglass countertops, so there wasn’t a shiny glare everywhere in the bathroom. Really classed up the place.

The bathroom was kind of dark, but when you got into the stall, there was a little box light above the toilet on the wall, out of the way so you wouldn’t hit it. I think it was also an air freshner! Plenty of sinks and soap. Automatic sinks, but not soap. I always find that odd. You assume people don’t want to touch the faucets, so why make soap dispensers you  have to touch, but not sinks? My work is actually the opposite – automatic soap dispensers, but I have to touch the knobs to turn on the water.

The only negative I have about this bathroom is that it would be difficult for someone who is in a wheelchair or disabled to open the door. I didn’t see a handicap button to automatically open the restroom door. Beyond that, this bathroom (the Baker & Daniels suite) gets a SIT!!!! :)

Jillians

October 25, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

Disgusting. That’s the best way to describe the bathroom situation at Jillians. My friends and I went there for some drinks and games on Friday. While waiting to meet up with people on the third floor, I used the bathroom. BIG MISTAKE.

This bathroom looked like it would be nice – lots of stalls and sinks, but no. It was filthy. Every toilet but one was unflushed. One even had a hugh piece of poo in it that I am suprised even came out of a woman. I just about hightailed it out of that place if it wasn’t for my need to pee.

I made my mind up not to use that bathroom anymore. We eventually made our way to the second floor to play games and I found those bathrooms to be better. Surprisingly, they look worse than the third floor bathroom, but the toilets were flushed.

I don’t know what the heck was going on with Jillians. I hope that’s not normal, and maybe those crazy FFA kids that are in town dirtied up the bathroom. However, based on that visit, I would recommend NOT using the top floor bathroom. EVER. The middle floor was better, but that’s not saying much. In the past, I had used the ground floor bathroom and don’t recall any issues, but I didn’t use it last night.

Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University

October 17, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

I was incorrect in my last post in hyping a Murat bathroom review. I found out “Avenue Q” was actually playing at Clowes Hall. The bathroom situation is a little odd here. Because of the layout of the building, with the lobby ceiling going all the way up to the top of the building and cutting the seating entrances in half, there is only one bathroom per side. So, on one floor, the women’s bathroom is on the left side, but if you are sitting on right side, you have to go down a flight or cut across the aisles to get to the correct bathroom.
I didn’t have to wait to use the bathroom the two times I went (yes, twice. I had beer at dinner). The Lobby bathroom was hopping when we got there, but the third terrace bathroom was empty, so I was right in and out. The bathrooms are bright and very clean. I was stoked to see the bathroom doors opened out instead of back into the stall. That’s a pet peeve of mine, when you can barely squeeze between the door and the toilet paper holder to get out.
My only complaint (besides the odd placement of bathrooms) is the automatic sinks were difficult to activate. I’m all for not having to touch faucets and such that everyone else has, but if the sensor doesn’t want to work, how else can I get the water to come out?
I understand it’s a public bathroom and you may be creeped out peeing after others, but I felt it was clean enough to earn the first coveted Sit recommendation. Congrats, Clowes!

Exclusive – Weir Cook/Indianapolis Int’l Airport bathrooms!

October 17, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

Last weekend, the fiance and I were one of the thousands who went to the new airport and what’s the first thing I did once we got in the terminal? Use the bathroom of course! This was more about reviewing it than actually needing it for once!
The bathrooms are great! Really neat design, lots of stalls, and the best part – the stalls are big enough to fit your luggage AND the doors open out, meaning you aren’t trying to climb over your luggage to get out. There’s a lot of tile and stainless steel, and of course, automatic everything. Based on the newness of the terminal, I’d give it a sit! But, once it’s been open for a couple weeks, it will definitely get the cover recommendation. I’ll have to post an update the next time I travel.

Oy

Again, I have slacked off on this site, and I apologize. It seems that I have been busier than usual in trying to plan my wedding. And, in trying to save for said wedding, I’m cutting back on going out so that I don’t go shopping and spend money. I will be going to some different places this weekend, so I promise to report back about the Murat bathrooms (I love them because they are so retro) and maybe more!

And, for some reason, downtown smelled like sewer again today. But I guess it does often smell like urine, so what’s new? :)

Just Winging It

September 27, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

The fiance and I traveled down south to Johnson County go to Just Winging It with a couple of his friends. The bathroom here is remarkably bright. It’s only one room, no stall, so make sure to lock the door behind you.
It’s a large bathroom, very white – white floor, white tile, white counter, with a tile border that harkens back to the 80s. The bathroom definitely had an 80s feel to it. A large mirror on the back of the door makes the room feel bigger and lets you watch yourself pee. How exciting. :P
Plenty of soap and paper towels. Pretty clean restroom. I didn’t feel like I was putting my health in danger by using this restroom.
Again, because of the high traffic and bar crowd, I recommend a cover.

Memorial Stadium – Bloomington

September 21, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

This weekend, the boyfriend and I ventured to the Indiana University/Ball State University football game. I am always surprised by the bathrooms at Memorial Stadium. Yes, they are stadium bathrooms that kind of remind me of the ones you would find in a local park’s rec center, but there are tons of them! There are restrooms for almost every section of the stadium, making lines move very quickly.
And, they are well-stocked and clean before the games. Plenty of toilet paper in the stalls, soap is plentiful, and paper towels are on hand. By the end of the game, different story, but still, relatively clean figured 30,000 people have passed through the stadium.
Given the nature of the bathroom and the number of people it serves, cover. But if you make it down there for a game, you’ll be happy to know you won’t be waiting long to pee. Trying to get a soda is a whole different story though, and those lines are long!

What’s that smell?

September 17, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

Did anyone else who works or lives downtown smell that poo smell this morning? I noticed it while I was still in my gym in the Chase tower. When I went outside, I smelled it more, but it was still kind of faint. I feared sewage was backed up somewhere and I’d have to see it. THANK GOD that didn’t happen. The smell was bad enough the news is covering it! As someone in with connections to the media, I find it funny that a poo smell would make the news – but I guess it is news when your city smells like a port-o-potty.

The tables have turned!

September 17, 2008 by indyrestroomgal

For once, I visited a place where I was able to get in and out of the restroom faster than guys! My boyfriend and I went to a Columbus (OH) Crew game a couple weekends ago and I was in-and-out like a breeze. He, on the other hand, had to wait, and wait, and wait in line. I was stoked!
I guess this means there are many more men that go to these soccer games than women. If only every public event had lines this short for women!
